American Ag Systems Builds Reliability from the Ground Up

In the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, American Ag Systems is helping modern agriculture operate more efficiently, one installation at a time. Based in Salem, the company has steadily grown its reputation as a trusted partner for agricultural and industrial businesses across the Pacific Northwest.

Founded in 2014 by brothers-in-law and military veterans, Travis Tatum and Andrew Burleigh, American Ag Systems emerged from hands-on experience in agricultural equipment and processing systems. Through their work in the industry, they identified a gap: a need for skilled, dependable installation and millwright services delivered by professionals who truly understand the equipment they work with. What began as hazelnut drying system installations and preventative maintenance has since expanded into larger, more complex projects supporting a wide range of modern farming operations.

Today, the company specializes in the installation, removal, and customization of agricultural systems and equipment. From fabricating safety upgrades like catwalks and fall protection systems to ensuring proper system performance in the field, American Ag Systems focuses on delivering reliable, long-term solutions. Their collaborative approach of working closely with suppliers and directly with customers ensures each project meets specifications while prioritizing safety and durability.

Operating primarily throughout the Pacific Northwest, American Ag Systems serves regions where agriculture continues to evolve and demand dependable infrastructure. While their work is technical in nature, the company emphasizes that success goes beyond project completion. For Operations Manager, Merrissa Burleigh, success is rooted in trust that is built through strong relationships, satisfied customers, and a team that takes pride in its work.

That relationship-driven mindset is also what drew the company to the Oregon Seed Association. As a Silver Sponsor and Associate Member, American Ag Systems values the OSA’s role in bringing together industry professionals, fostering collaboration, and investing in the next generation of leaders. Their involvement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the broader agricultural community.

Looking ahead, the company anticipates continued change driven by technological advancements, evolving safety standards, and labor challenges. By staying adaptable and focused on incremental improvement, American Ag Systems aims to remain a reliable partner in an industry that depends on both innovation and trust.

For American Ag Systems, the work may begin with equipment and infrastructure, but it’s the relationships behind each project that continue to drive their growth.
