GRASS SEED NEGOTIATION PLANNING COMMITTEE

The first meeting of the grass seed negotiations planning committee convened recently, comprised of members from OSA, OGSBA, and representatives from ODA. The committee was formed at the OSA Mid-Winter Meeting and tasked to discuss the current process for the grass seed price negotiations and determine if changes should be made to future negotiation processes.

A proposal was discussed allowing for additional meeting dates to discuss field information,  market conditions, and share any pertinent information. The dealer team accepted the proposal for additional meetings and agreed to encourage participation. The proposal was to hold three meetings per year with all parties, including the negotiation meeting—a half-day meeting in the spring, a half-day meeting in late fall, and a full day for negotiations.

Since there was not a fall meeting in 2019, there was a request that this group get together for a meeting on April 16. The next scheduled dates are May 20 for the regular spring meeting, June 17 for the dealer meeting, negotiations during the week of June 29, and the fall meeting on November 9.
