I am honored and look forward to serving as OSA president and getting to know you all better over the next year. I hope I can live up to the high standards set by my predecessors. With the help of a great Board of Directors and all of you, our members, I think we can make the future of the OSA and the seed industry better for all of us.
Please welcome our two new Board members, Brenda Landis and Lucas Solis. I would also like to thank Jeff Martin and Paul Hedgpeth for all the years they dedicated to making OSA better.
The Board and I will continue working on the things that were started by past presidents, as well as the issues and concerns that were discussed at the summer convention. As you all requested, the Board meeting minutes will be sent out to the primary contact person from each member. We will also send out the Board meeting agendas prior to the meetings. It is our hope this will keep everyone engaged and informed and will help the Board be proactive with any upcoming challenges.
Last year, we learned a bit more about how to work in the Capitol, and we will keep that going by scheduling a day of meetings with legislators in February 2020. It is important to keep meeting with our legislators so they know they can turn to the OSA when they need advice on ag related issues.
Over the last few years, I think we have strengthened our relationships with the ODA and other organizations. Moving forward, the Board and I will be engaging with the Emerging Professionals committee members as they are next in line to lead OSA into the future.
If you have any questions or concerns over the next year, or you would like to participate in meetings with Oregon legislators in February, feel free to reach out to me at 503-566-9900 or philllindgren@grasslandoregon.com.
