Mid-Winter Meeting

The 2022 Mid-Winter Meeting will be held Thursday, January 20, at the Boulder Falls Inn and Conference Center, Lebanon, Ore. Our keynote speaker will be Todd Thompson of MODE Transportation on Addressing Challenges While Remaining Positive.

We will also be offering workshops on January 19 presented by our Associate members, including: Pesticide Safety & Regulation and Stored Product Pests & Invasive Species, by Sprague Pest (eligible for pesticide applicator credits); Seed Labeling Requirements and Phytosanitary Testing/Certificates review with ODA; Contract Terms, Payment Options (such as Letters of Credit), and current Export Document Requirements (such as but not limited to the “new” phyto) with Double River Forwarding; and a demonstration of the OSU Seed eCertification Portal.

One-hour review of Oregon seed labeling requirements; variety vs brand, test/expiration dates, abbreviations and tagging for interstate shipping.

Phytosanitary Testing/Certificates

One-hour review of the phytosanitary testing; access forms, request sampling, who to contact, certificates and more.

Payment Terms & Letters of Credit

This workshop covers the different types of payment terms in international trade: consignment, open account, documentary collections, letters of credit and cash in advance. We will also explore deeper into letters of credit: content, procedures, banks and fees.

Pesticide Safety & Regulation

One-hour review of pesticide labels, parts and interpretation (not always easy!), pesticide math, PPE, using application equipment properly, and Oregon recordkeeping requirements for pesticide applications.

Stored Product Pests & Invasive Species

One hour on the most common stored product pests, their biology, and control. We’ll cover Indian meal moths, cigarette beetles, house mice and deer mice. We will touch on the invasive species that you may see in large numbers and need to be on alert for.
