COMMITTEE REPORTS

Science & Technology: The committee is planning to get together to discuss and define guidelines for accepting and/or approving research grant requests. If you are interested in being a member of this committee, contact Terri Burr at tburr@penningtonseed.com.

Public Relations: The PR Committee will be attending the state FFA convention in Redmond on March 19-22 to promote the different career opportunities in the seed industry. Kate Hartnell (Saddle Butte Ag) and Charlie Vandehey (DLF Pickseed) will be staffing the OSA booth and visiting with students. A handout we will distribute mentions that many of our companies have paid summer jobs or internships available for students to explore the industry and learn about career opportunities. If your company will have a part time summer position available this year, please contact Jake Stockfleth as soon as possible at orseedcleaning@gmail.com.

NOTE: Due to the COVID 19 epidemic, we were not able to attend the FFA Convention as it was cancelled. Therefore, we will not be able to distribute to any of you a list of students that may have been interested in summer jobs. We hope to be able to attend next year.

Emerging Professionals: The EP group is planning its next luncheon in April and will be inviting guests to visit at the regular luncheons, including Sharon Davidson from Agri Seed Testing. If you are interested in joining this group, you must be under age 40 and working in any aspect of the seed industry, including growers, testing, sales, office administration, marketing, etc. Contact Tony Ramirez for more information at Tony.Ramirez@nutrien.com.
